The Practice of Returning
An ongoing home for your Ashtanga practice — through the changing seasons of life.
A place to keep Ashtanga yoga in your life without turning it into another rigid thing you have to get right.
We practise, reflect, share and return — to the mat, to the body and to ourselves.
You don't have to start over.
Life changes. Our bodies change. Our energy changes.
Sometimes practice feels strong and effortless. Sometimes it asks us to slow down. Sometimes we step away for a while.
Returning is not about making up for what we missed.
It´s simply coming back.
The Practice of Returning grew from a wish to make space for these changes. To normalise the changes that happen in practice, and to recognise that every stage has something to offer.
“The practice is for my body and my life.”
— Erja
The practice moves with the seasons.
Our practice doesn't happen in isolation from the rest of life. The seasons change, circumstances shift, and what we need from practice may change, too.
The changing seasons offer a loose thread for reflection — a chance to notice shifts in energy, in nature and in ourselves, and to remember that we are part of it all.
Each season has its own character and emphasis. These may find expression in a conference, a story, a question or a shared reflection. There is no fixed curriculum to follow and nothing extra you need to work on in your asana practice.
The practice remains the practice. The way we meet it can change.

Recordings
Recordings of selected sessions are available if you can't join live.
These are invitations, not assignments. You don't have to do everything.
Space, clarity and intention.
My hope is that the practice gives you both space and clarity.
Space to notice what's actually happening.
Clarity to recognise what matters and what doesn't.
And enough support to practise with intention without constantly pushing yourself to do more.
The aim is not to add another task to your life, but to create a place where you can meet yourself a little more honestly.
“Heidi has a very good ability to give space, while also clarifying and simplifying the practice.”
— Anu
“Kirkkaus ja tarkoituksenmukainen intentio on läsnä.”
— Anu
FOR WOMEN WHO WANT ASHTANGA TO STAY IN THEIR LIVES
You already know the foundations of Ashtanga.
You have a full life — work, family, pets, friends, interests and responsibilities.
You value a traditional practice, but don't want yoga to become rigid or take over your life.
You want a place to practise regularly, a teacher who pays attention, and a community of kind, like-minded people.
You'd like to explore yoga beyond the physical postures, too.
You don't need to practise every day.
You don't need to be advanced.
You simply need a willingness to return.
More than a weekly class
A regular Mysore class gives you a place to practise and individual guidance.
The Practice of Returning adds a longer thread: continuity, a shared season, conversations around the practice and a community you return to over time.
A little more commitment, without pressure.
